HISTORY

Minox, and its products have had a unique perspective on history. From the germination of the UR Minox in prewar Estonia to the cold war, Kings and royalty to space flight, Minox has been up to the tasks that no ordinary camera has been able to tackle.

About the MHS
The Minox Historical Society has had a short, but interesting beginning. Significant events in the Society are recorded here.

The Minox Story
Learn about the origins of the Minox, and where it is today. Looked at from the perspective of the company and its people, follow the development of Minox over time.

The Spy Camera
The Minox's most famous use is one for which it was never intended. From the first French diplomat that noted "its usefulness for office purposes," the unique versatility of Minox cameras lent themselves to the high stakes game of espionage.

The Gentleman's Camera
The original inspiration for the Minox cameras was the knowledge that a smaller lens could produce superior optical results, while allowing the camera to be on one's person at all times. This truth was borne out by the Minox being the choice of Kings, Presidents and movie stars for both its convenience and quality.
